BIG IDEA: God’s concern/care is not disqualified due to crises.

Open It: When things go wrong, we are tempted to doubt the care/concern of God. This is most common in secular reasoning/thinking: “How can a loving God allow suffering?”

Even believers begin to doubt the love of God when life hurts us!

Back It: Notice the disciples (who are in the boat WITH JESUS) response: Vs. 35-36: 35 On that day, when evening had come, He told them, “Let’s cross over to the other side of the sea.” 36 So they left the crowd and took Him along since He was in the boat. And other boats were with Him.

There is a false-equivalence that the disciples draw concerning the care of Jesus:
Our S________________ means that God doesn’t C_____________!

We must never believe that our suffering equates to a lack of God’s concern!

Scripture is filled with Believers who suffer! This affirms that God cares despite our struggles and suffering:

Apply It: Jesus, fully aware of the storm is asleep (in the stern). If the boats were swamped with water, then surely Jesus was getting wet! He was equally at risk for perishing.
