hey
We are glad that you're joining us for worship this morning! While our place of worship has changed from the usual place and time, we are grateful to know that the Body of Christ can worship anytime, anywhere. And a building is just that - a building. The Church is the people, not the place we worship. In these troubled times, our witness for Jesus Christ can be evident to those around us as we take wise precautions while simultaneously living out our faith with what it means to have a peace that passes all understanding. May you be blessed this week as we see God at work through these unprecedented times. If you have a need for assistance during this time (grocery delivery, meals, etc.), please do not hesitate to call/text Kim Collins at 269-767-2226. We have church members ready and willing to help. We can get through this together. Our God is able.
Crazy Days!
Hebrews 13:5-6
Pastor Jerry Koller
Today’s Scripture comes from the book of Hebrews. It is found in the last chapter of that book—chapter 13, which lists a number of exhortations to the church at large.
· The 21 verses of Hebrews 13 are filled with exhortations. Verse 1 is an example.
· An exhortation is a statement that is designed to persuade the reader or hearer to take some kind of action.
Focus: “Be content with what you have.”
Why?
· God is with us during these challenging times.
· He has promised to never leave or forsake us.
· A heavenly focus brings contentment.
· A worldly focus brings anxiety and discontent.
These trials are not necessarily something we bring upon ourselves.
· Joy doesn’t mean we enjoy the trial or adversity or take pleasure in it in some masochistic way.
· Joy is an outlook as well as a fruit of the spirit.
· We delight in God and in His goodness.
Trials cannot destroy or alter God’s goodness in any way.
Why Joy?
· …because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. (James 1:3)
· Testing refers to the examination of the character of something to see how well it works or to prove the validity of something.
· The results of these tests are not for God’s benefit. It is for our benefit.
The testing of our faith develops perseverance/endurance.
· Endurance is the power to withstand hardship or stress.
The phrase “you know” carries with it the idea of knowledge that is not just factual but has been realized through personal experience.
How long must we consider it pure joy? How long must we persevere or endure?
The word complete carries with it the idea of wholeness.
The phrase “not lacking in anything” show how comprehensive this truth is.
God’s goal for us is to become Christ-like—to grow up in faith.
· to reach spiritual maturity
· that we become mature in all aspects of our faith
· not lacking anything of spiritual importance and value.

COVID-19/ Coronavirus Status

· Current Status: In addition to all FBC activities being cancelled until further notice (EXCEPT the blood drive on 3/26), we are prohibiting access to the building to everyone unless specific permission has been granted by Pastor Jerry. If you need to come to church, please contact Pastor Jerry in advance.
· Communication is Important! The key to getting through this is to communicate and continue to support each other however we can. Kim Collins will be working from home as much as possible. Please do not hesitate to contact her via church email, or by calling/texting her cell at 269-767-2226 if you have any questions or need assistance (grocery delivery, meals, etc.)during this time. We have church members ready and willing to help.
· Be Safe: Please be smart in safeguarding yourselves—not only for your sake, but for the sake of others. If you are sick, stay home.
· Be Faithful: Please be financially faithful. Even if you cannot gather with us, please remember that we still have expenses that need to be met.
· Be Prayerful: Please be in prayer for one another and for our nation at large.

Donors Needed for Blood Drive: 3/26

We will host a blood drive on Thursday, March 26, from 1:00-6:00 PM in the foyer. Blood donations are down since schools are cancelled (high school students provide 33% of the donations collected in Michigan) and we anticipate the need for blood will be increasing - if you are able to be a donor, contact Renee Goff via call or text (269-767-1636) to sign up ASAP.

Seder Dinner

We have cancelled this event and rescheduled it for next year.

Mission Trip Update

In light of current State and Federal restrictions, Pastor Jerry has made the official call to cancel the Honduras trip for this year. We understand that by the time we are suppose to leave, things may be back to normal. On the other hand, they may not be. The near future is uncertain which makes fundraising and current planning/preparation for the trip difficult.

Elder Ministry Team Meeting: 3/30

This month’s meeting will be on Monday, March 30, from 7:00-9:00 PM in the conference room. If you’re an active Elder and unable to attend, please contact Dean Newell.
