- Jesus is the author of these letters written to the seven churches of Asia. Jesus is described distinctively in each letter.
- Jesus is writing these letters to “the angel of the church” of each place.
- Jesus is writing these letters to seven, unique churches scattered throughout Asia, which refers specifically to Asia Minor or modern-day Turkey. Our primary focus today is on the first letter to the church in Ephesus.
I. Jesus Commends the Ephesians for Their Works
II. Jesus Condemns the Ephesians for Their Deviation
- Problem: They have abandoned their first love!
- Solution: Remember, Repent and Do the Works You Did at First
- Consequence: Death of the Church
III. Jesus Commends Them Again for Their Convictions
