Lesson 7:
"The Power of Reconciliation Pt. 2"
(2 Corinthians 2:5-11)
PART 1 REVIEW:

The effort required and success of the process is often determined by the approach of the offended/responding parties.

Four primary tools used by God to address and/or expose sin:
1. Conscience
Defined = That faculty of the soul which distinguishes between right and wrong
(Romans 2:12-16)
Our conscience can be…
» Good (Acts 23:1), Pure (1 Timothy 3:9), Cleaned (Hebrews 9:14)
» Weakened (1 Corinthians 8:9), Wounded (1 Corinthians 8:12), Defiled (Titus 1:15), Seared (1 Tim. 4:2)

2. Church
The ministry of the local church acts as a mirror and a deterrent.
(2 Timothy 4:1-2)

3. Consequences
Various types are presented in the scriptures:
» Natural (Galatians 6:7-8)
» Relational (1 Corinthians 5:1-5)
» Spiritual (Isaiah 59:2)
4. Confrontation
Examples include…
» Nathan confronting David (2 Samuel 12:1-9)
» Paul confronting Peter (Galatians 2:11-13)
» Paul in our text (1 & 2 Corinthians)

Before confronting someone…
ask yourself the following questions:
• What have they done?
• Is my engagement warranted?
• Is my heart in the right place?
• What is my motivation?
