“Leave the broken, irreversible past in God’s hands, and step out into the invincible future with Him.” Oswald Chambers
THE FIRST ALTAR
Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it. The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done. - Genesis 8:20-21
Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. - John 12:24
THE ULTIMATE ALTAR
Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world! - John 1:29
But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, ‘Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.’ - Galatians 3:13
Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them. - John 7:38
As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; but they were kept from recognizing him. - Luke 24:15-16
He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” Luke 24:25-27
As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther. But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them.” - Luke 24:28-29
When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. They asked each other, - Luke 24:30-32
BURNING HEARTS
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. - Hebrews 4:16
