One Mission – One Word – One Practice
ONE MISSION:
It’s easy in our cluttered/chaotic culture to elevate secondary things to a primary intensity, be we need to be people who “keep the main thing, the main thing.”

Great Commission: Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
As soon as you become a Christian, you are His disciple.
= what Jesus wants is “a generation of followers who are so saturated in [His] thinking, [His] worldview, and [His] orientation that when they are integrated into the culture, the culture will have to live with the influence of Jesus, who permeates the culture.”

Jesus said His mission was: “I have come to seek and save the lost”
(Luke 19:10)
The Great Commission is simply living out God’s heart on mission.
1 Timothy 2:1-6 (shortened)

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf…..This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.
Your LIFE, My LIFE is to be a walking/living BILLBOARD directing people toward this Jesus that saved you, rescued you, redeemed you and is restoring you. Rescued people, rescue people!
ONE WORD:

-think about something that you want to change in you or something you want to see God grow within you this year….

=What one word do you want shape how you live in 2020?

It can be a WORD you want to give more focus to. It can be a character quality you want to adopt or develop more deeply. It can be an action that you want to become more a part of your life.

To start, ask what word God wants you to focus on. Pray about it. Ask God to show you your word. You want a “God Word”, not just a good word.

For some of you, you might know it right away. God has been putting it in your mind for some time. For some of you, you’ll need some time to pray and reflect. Be bold and ask God to reveal the word to you this week and as you ask God for that, then watch and listen. You might be surprised where it will come from. Find your word - then tell people.
ONE PRACTICE:

WE are ALL called to grow as a disciple – as a follower of Jesus. This isn’t just in knowing more about Jesus – it’s in obeying more of Jesus.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. -Jesus
MATTHEW 11:29–30
As we look at the early followers of Jesus, we see them actually doing what they saw Jesus do.

Quote:
"A disciple is a person who has decided that the most important thing in their life is to learn how to do what Jesus said to do."
-- Dallas Willard
*we often talk about spiritual disciplines being spiritual habits/practices that help shape our character and soul to be more in alignment with living the way Jesus lived. Which practice would you like to focus on in 2020 and grow via engaging in it?
Richard Foster: Celebration of Discipline (book)
1. The inward disciplines · Meditation · Prayer · Fasting · Study
2. The outward disciplines · Simplicity · Solitude · Submission · Service
3. The corporate disciplines · Confession · Worship · Guidance
· Celebration
Quote:
“The desperate need today is not for a greater number of intelligent people, or gifted people, but for deep people.”
― Richard J. Foster, Celebration of Discipline: The Path to Spiritual Growth

A disciple is a person who has committed their life to become a deep person – one rooted in Jesus and being shaped and molded to respond and engage more like he did.
So determine now in 2020: Stay focused on ONE MISSION - PICK ONE WORD to focus / pray into and PICK ONE PRACTICE to grow in, asking God to grow you spiritually in Him.
