Faith Lutheran Church Oakville
You Asked For It: Loving our LGBTQIA Neighbors, Pastor Chris Sommer
Today we close out this message series that you had been asking for, talking about a very sensitive subject: LGBTQIA. I, Pastor Chris, am hoping to communicate a message that will be equally well-received by everyone, regardless of where you stand on this issue; because the goal of this message is not to change anyone’s opinion of what they believe on this topic, but rather to discuss how the church can love our LGBTQIA neighbors.

The church’s response to LGBTQIA should vary for (at least) two reasons:
LGBTQI and A are not all the same.
-- We vary our response based on how the person is impacted by this topic.
Not all people believe in God or an objective moral standard.
-- We vary our response based on the spiritual beliefs of the person.

What should be the church’s response?
--We can’t isolate ourselves
--We must purge the evil from among us

We believe God wants to position Faith to be a generous body of believers able to invest in missional ministry where we live, work, play and beyond; wherever God leads us to bless those who need the Gospel. Faith members and regular attenders are on a journey to discover what it means to move from being blessed to blessing others. We give with gratitude in response to God’s grace and sacrificial love in Jesus, who already has met our deepest needs. He works through the sacrifice and generosity of His people to meet the needs of others and to fuel the mission of His church to make disciples.
