Pine Lake Covenant Church
Sabbath as Rest, Sabbath as Resistance
This summer we have been exploring different spiritual practices that offer a rhythm of life full of depth and meaning, and as theologian AJ Swoboda puts it, “Jesus lived out the rhythms of heaven.” This week we will together encounter a practice that is as old as creation itself: Sabbath. How might the practice of Sabbath be the avenue to the work/life balance that we deeply long for, and in turn be the practice from which our purpose on Earth flows?

Kids
As a family of families, we welcome children of all ages and value their
participation in a life of worship! During every service, childcare is available for infants and toddlers, and our Sunday morning kids program — Kairos Kids — is available the 2nd-5th Sundays of the month for children Preschool through 5th grade. On the 1st Sunday of the month, kids join their families in the service to worship all together as a church community. For kids 1st grade and under, feel free to take advantage of the Family Corner in the front-right. It can provide an opportunity for young children to move around or enjoy quiet activities during the service, and parents can sit in the rows right there near them.

Special needs sensory table
Some people with disabilities, like autism or ADHD, benefit from the use of fidget toys or items to stimulate or calm their senses. To help meet the needs of children, students, and adults that have different abilities, we have provided a box of sensory items on the right side of the sanctuary. Please use items if they are helpful for you or your family and return them after use so they can be cleaned for the next person to use them.

Encore
Encore is a time after our services to gather and get to know one another. Sometimes we might share a meal or a celebration, and at other times participate in a class or serving opportunity. No matter what we're doing, there will always be refreshments and fun activities for kids. Stick around and enjoy this time to connect as a church community!
Pastor Mark's Sabbatical, Part 2
June 24 - August 6
PLCC graciously grants a sabbatical for their pastors after every seven years of service. This is a time designed for learning, rest, play, and spiritual nourishment. A year ago, Pastor Mark came to the Leadership Team to ask to take half of his 12-week sabbatical, which he did last summer. This summer, he will be gone from June 24 through August 6 taking the second half. He is planning a mix of learning, time with family, and time for spiritual reflection and prayer.
