Chestnut Ridge Church
Messed Up—Part 1
The heroes of the Bible were real people who made mistakes. They were known for their mess ups—and we can all relate to that. Join us for a new series called Messed Up. We’ll turn our focus to the flawed and forgiven heroes of the faith whose mistakes can be instructive to our own lives.

Messed Up [Part 1]—Tim Haring

Problem: We’ve got a lot of wrong ideas about sins and failures.
Solution: We need to change the way we think about sin.
Today's Takeaway: We need to change the way we think about sin.
• These failures suggest that Bible is true.
• These stories provide examples from which we can learn.
• Their failures give us hope.

• Don’t think forgiveness means, “no consequences.”
• Don’t think you are “above” committing certain sins.
• Don’t think you can’t end well if you’ve failed big time.
We need to change the way we think about sin:
• Don’t think forgiveness means, “no consequences.”
• Don’t think you are above committing certain sins.
• Don’t think you can’t end well if you’ve failed big time.
What should you do about sin?
• If you sin, admit it (confess), and claim your forgiveness.
What should you do about sin?
If you sin, don’t use your failure as an excuse to continue sinning.
• If you sin, run toward Christ and not away from Him.
