Opening Song • Lord I Need You

VERSE 1
Lord, I come, I confess bowing here I find my rest
And without You I fall apart You're the one that guides my heart

CHORUS
Lord, I need You Oh, I need You every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness Oh, God, how I need You

VERSE 2
Where sin runs deep Your grace is more
Where grace is found Is where You are
And where You are, Lord, I am free, holiness is Christ in me
Where You are, Lord, I am free, holiness is Christ in me

CHORUS

BRIDGE
Teach my song to rise to You when temptation comes my way
When I cannot stand I'll fall on You Jesus, You're my hope and stay
When I cannot stand I'll fall on You Jesus, You're my hope and stay

CHORUS 2X

TAG
My one defense my righteousness Oh, God, how I need You

Confession and Forgiveness
Dear Heavenly Father, we lower our heads before you and we confess that we have too often forgotten that we are yours. Sometimes we carry on our lives as if there was no God and we fall short of being a credible witness to You. For these things we ask your forgiveness and we also ask for your strength. Give us clear minds and open hearts so we may witness to You in our world. Hold us to You and build our relationship with You and with those You have given us on earth.
The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
Message/Teaching: Serving our Neighbors
# One way to show love is to serve others
34 So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. 35 Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” Johnn 13:34–35.
# Service can be a way show love, it can also be way of obligation
# When we clean up our rooms, do our choirs, we show love... is it under obligation?
# Many of the jobs and things we can volunteer at, happen to be under obligation
# There is a reason why there is a punishment call Community Service
# Are there rules we follow in the Bible? Can anyone name a list of them?
# One way to describe that list is how we serve God and serve others
# So why do we follow them? One answer, because He said so, we treat God like our parnets telling us to do something
# Here's the thing, God doesn't need us to serve Him, God doesn't need you to make Him happy.
#God instead came down to us, served us, loved us. Each and every one of you
#Jesus, we've been talking about Him, serve us with His life, we can have a relationship with God... God came to us
#Our service to others is about sharing that Good News, sharing this relationship with God to others... thanks to Jesus
#Serving isn't earning, achieving, its repsonding to what God has done in each of our lives
# lets look at Luke 10
#A snarky teacher of the law asked Jesus, the greatest commandment, Jesus asks Him to respond
#Serving others is one of the best ways to show love God, love your neighbor, is loving God with all your heart, soul and mind.
#it's not going to church, signing hymn or even giving an offering
#it's loving your neighbor, serving your neighbor
#now that sounds great, what does that look like?
#Jesus tells a parable to help us understand,
#a man is robbed, beaten, left for dead... he needs help, needs service
#two different religious leaders, the good guys, come walking along
#they both ignore the man
#the bad guy comes, a Samaritan, helps the man
#The Samaritan serves him, bandages him, takes him to an inn
#The Samaritan pays for the expenses to help the man heal
#The man who asked the question can't even repsonded to who served his neighbor because he can't bare to say the Samaritan
#Who are we in this parable? We are not the Good Samaritan. We are the man beaten on the side of the road. Dealing with all the hurts of the world.
#if you disagree with that, you have to be careful not to be one of the religious leaders
#God serves us all, no matter the background or history because that is the God we have
#That is Good News
#As we serve, we get to share that Good News we people in our lives
#We have an opportunity to serve people
#We can do this with our families, with friends, with people we come across in our lives
#Serving does not have to mean joining the Peace Core or some huge volunteer program, it means serving the people in our life
#Join us next Sunday to serve our community. Here at Hometown Heroes for Pet's Alive. More info about times will be emailed out, as we have an opportunity to serve people, and even the animals in our community.
Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen

Share IN YOUR RELATIONSHIPS this week

Like the Good Samaritan who stepped out of his comfort zone to save the man who was robbed, Jesus came down to save each of us. How can you step outside your own comfort zone this week and serve your neighbor? While serving, let the Spirit lead the way for an opportunity to share the love that Jesus gave you as well as the person you get to serve.
