“Commandment #9: Always Tell the Truth”
(Exodus 20:16)

Review of commandments 1-8:
#1 No other gods
#2 Idols are dumb
#3 Don't misuse God's name
#4 Take a day off
#5 Don't disrespect your parents
#6 Value all human life
#7 Sex is reserved for you & your spouse
#8 Don't take or keep what is not yours

Exodus 20:16

"bear false witness" = to give a false testimony, to proclaim or repeat untruth as truth so as to hurt/injure others

Bearing false witness can literally alter the course of a life... ours our someone else's!
Six Biblical truths about bearing false witness:
1. It places us on the wrong side of the law.

Their actions actually helped establish two precious truths:
(1) The location of Jesus' tomb (It was known.)
(2) The condition of Jesus' tomb (It was empty.)

B. The enemies of Christ lied to discredit an outspoken witness.
Two responses of those who can't handle the truth:
(1) They seek to silence its messengers.
