Matthew 25:1-13

Matthew 25:1

Two things that separate people:
1. Character
Matthew 25:2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.
Two things that separate people:
2. Preparation
Matthew 25:3-4 For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps.
Wisdom is the understanding and skill to live life successfully.
Wisdom is knowing what to do and when to do it.
Psalms 111:10a
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom
Foolishness is ignoring God’s council and leaning on our own understanding and insisting on our way.
Part of wisdom is acknowledging the fact that life often doesn’t go according to plan.
Making plans is essential but developing trust in God for when things don’t go as planned is even more important.

Matthew 25:5

Part of preparation is developing the ability to persevere through delay and discouragement.

Hebrews 10:36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.

Matthew 25:6-9

Matthew 25:10

It’s not true that defining moments make us who we are. Rather, defining moments reveal our preparation.
God will only make you a steward of what you have prepared for.

Matthew 25:11-13
