Spend a little time talking about how comparison can make you feel bad about something you used to feel good about. Share a specific example of that in your life.
Discuss the phrase, “This is my life” as Pastor Jonathan shared it in his message. Thinking about your current life situations, how does this make you feel and why?
What is one thing going on in your life right now that you honestly find it difficult to be thankful for? How are you tempted to compare this situation to others who have it differently or “better” than you?
Discuss what I Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NLT) teaches us about the Will of God for every follower of Jesus.
How is it possible to be thankful “in” situations you don’t feel you can be thankful “for”? Why is it so important to make this distinction (“in” not just “for”)?
Name one thing that is good in your life that makes it easy to be thankful “for” and “in”.
Name one thing that is not so good in your life that you can be thankful “in” although it’s something you find it hard to be thankful “for”. Briefly describe how you can be thankful “in” it.
What difference will this make in your life?
