Going Deeper is designed for use with your small group, a friend or on you own. Its aim is to create time for you to spend with God and his word. Do as much or as little as you like. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact one of our pastoral staff.

1. Pray for the needs of your Life Group, for our church and our leaders, for personal and corporate renewal, and to allow God’s word to transform us. Share a recent entry from your Life Journal with the group.

2. 2. The message on Sunday walked us through Daniel 5 – the writing on the wall and the weighing/measuring. Read the entire chapter out loud, close your bibles and see if your group can retell the chapter from memory. What thoughts or questions did the message raise for you?

3. Focus on Dan 5:10-12. What was Daniel known for? Who do you call upon when you need help with something? In what situations would you be called on for help?

4. Read Col 3:16 and 2 Tim 3:16-17. Take a moment to reflect on a time when you were confronted with your own destructive or sinful behavior or character flaw. How was the message was delivered and how able were you to receive it? How willing are you to lovingly admonish others?

5. Focus on Dan 5:17-24. Discuss how Daniel takes the opportunity to be a witness to God’s work. Compare this with Acts 22, 23 and Acts 26. Do you have opportunities to be a witness to God’s work? Do you take them?

6. Focus on Dan 5:25-28. Weighed – measured – found wanting. How do you feel about the fact that your life will also be weighed and measured? What gives you confidence as you anticipate this? What words would you like to see written on the wall for you?

7. Take a moment of silence to consider how God is speaking to you through His word. What invitation to you hear from Him? What concrete steps of response do you want to take? How can your group support you in these steps?
