Faith Lutheran Church Oakville
Invitational Life: Your Life, Pastor Chris Sommer
Today we continue in our message series about living the Invitational Life of a disciple, specifically talking about the fact that there is a cost to being a disciple, even a financial one. November is the month where our Faith families make their annual financial commitment to God’s work through them and this church; so this week we intentionally “count the cost” of being a disciple.

There is a cost to living the invitational life of a disciple.
We don’t give money to the church because we are the church; God supplies money for His mission by giving it to us.
Jesus died for you knowing what it would cost Him.
We don’t pay God with our lives; no, as disciples we share our lives in response to the Gospel.
After counting the cost we are willingly “devoured” (daptō) by the Invitational Life.
It should never cost anything to for the people of this community to hear the Gospel; as the church we are counting that cost and paying it for them.

We believe God wants to position Faith to be a generous body of believers able to invest in missional ministry where we live, work, play and beyond; wherever God leads us to bless those who need the Gospel. Faith members and regular attenders are on a journey to discover what it means to move from being blessed to blessing others. We give with gratitude in response to God’s grace and sacrificial love in Jesus, who already has met our deepest needs. He works through the sacrifice and generosity of His people to meet the needs of others and to fuel the mission of His church to make disciples.
