Sunday Worship November 25, 2018

We take SO much for granted- things we've seen happen so often we no longer think of them as the little miracles they really are. But, if we stopped to give thanks where it was due, what would our hearts & lives look like? Join us as we take some time out to give thanks where thanks is due and cultivate an attitude of gratitude!

Sermon Notes & Scripture
"He's Never Failed Me, Yet"
Pastor Matt Schaffner
Gratitude is attitudinal, thanksgiving is action.

Psalms 106:1-6

Gratitude is attitudinal, thanksgiving is action.

The psalmist begins with gratitude because the Lord is good and enumerates it with God’s faithful love.
חֶ֫סֶד (hesed)- an unfailing, inexhaustible, unending, faithful, loyal love; most often related to God’s covenantal faithfulness.
God’s faithful love is intimately tied to the miraculous things He has done.
Genuine godliness is summarized by the psalmist in preserving judgment and practicing righteousness.
Our remembrance of God’s faithfulness throws our sinfulness into stark relief, reminding us of our only hope.
Just like the Israelites, God has never failed us and never will, in spite of our sin and brokenness, because His hesed is greater.
His goodness, love, and faithfulness requires our response. The God of the universe who spun the stars in motion and gave His only Son as the sacrificial gift to make us right has always been faithful and His faithfulness doesn’t end with our sin.
Monday is coming!
What happens Sunday is only as meaningful as what you do with it the rest of the week. This month we want to take time to cultivate a thankful heart and would encourage you to take the time to say, "Thank You!" to God for all the things He does for you each day. Also, we're going to launch a thirty day reading plan looking at thankfulness this month. Join us as we pursue an attitude of gratitude & work to live a lifestyle of thanks giving!
