“A son honors his father, and a servant his master, but if I am a father, where is my honor?”

KABOD (Heb.) “to make heavy” - “to give weight to”

“…for those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise me shall be lightly esteemed.”

Despise = opposite of honor

= to treat lightly or take for granted; ignore; forget

For a lesser to honor a greater = to show gratitude; obey; greatly esteem; declare their praises

For a greater to honor a lesser = to enrich; promote; empower; recognize; endorse

1. Being honored by God is conditional upon honoring both the Source and the channels of those blessings.

2. When you honor the previous link, you honor God because the entire chain is Holy.

3. When God is no longer honored, soon no one is honored.

4. Not giving honor leads to being disinherited.

If you will not listen, if you will not take it to heart to give honor to my name, says the Lord of hosts, then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings. Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you do not lay it to heart.

5. Not honoring God is the chief sin that leads to all other sins.

For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

6. God sends leaders into your life with a reward or benefit for you. Honor opens the package and gets the reward.

The one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and the one who receives a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person's reward.

7. We often miss God because we fail to honor those who are familiar around us.

And Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his hometown and among his relatives and in his own household.” 5 And he could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them. 6 And he marveled because of their unbelief.
