WHAT IF I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO PRAY?
"God... I don't even know what to ask You for anymore."
Paul says it might actually be the beginning of Spirit-filled prayer.

Sometimes you don't know what to pray.
POWER MOMENT
You don't have to have the right words to have a powerful prayer life.

He helps our weakness.
"God, do what I want."
"God, show me what You want."

POWER MOMENT

Prayer is allowing the Holy Spirit to
bring me into agreement with God.
SPIRIT-FILLED PRAYER INCLUDES LISTENING
But prayer also includes listening.
"God, change my marriage.
And the Spirit begins dealing with your pride.
And He begins confronting your parenting.
And He brings up forgiveness.
"God, change my marriage."

And He brings up forgiveness.
And He begins developing your character.
There's something I want to develop in you before I move you."
That may be God answering it.
SOMETIMES THE ANSWER BEGINS WITH YOU

Personal revelation.
Character development.
Identity confrontation.
A decision.
He walked away with a changed identity.

But God was preparing the man who would walk into those circumstances.
Sometimes you're asking God to change your situation while…
But when you pray…
God is preparing to change the person who will walk through it.

PRAY BEYOND WHAT YOU CAN SEE

Paul teaches us to pray in the Spirit.
My understanding has limits.

"There's something I need to show you first."

When you pray
Don't only pray about what you can see.
Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal what you can't.
THE PRAYER SHIFT
"Holy Spirit, help me pray."
"What do You want me to see?"

"What are You developing in me?"
"Is there anything I need to surrender?"

"Is there something You've already told me to do?"
"Who are You asking me to become in this season?"
CLOSING
"Holy Spirit, while I'm waiting for You to work around me, don't let me miss what You're doing within me."
FINAL DECLARATION
Prayer isn't only where I bring God my requests.
Prayer is where I surrender my understanding,
hear His heart, and allow the Holy Spirit
to prepare me for whatever God has next.

Don't stop praying.
"Holy Spirit, help me pray."
