1. What do you think of when you hear the word “legacy”? Does everyone leave a legacy?
2. Do you think having a legacy is important to people? Why or why not?
3. How does our culture define “legacy”?
4. What do you know about Joshua in the Bible? Who led the Israelites before him?
5. Read Joshua 4:21. What purpose did the stones serve?
6. Have you ever witnessed a person leaving a legacy of faithfulness through their actions and words? Provide examples of what you witnessed.

Live It Out:
A lasting legacy of faith is built when mature believers intentionally model and pass on their faith, and younger believers humbly receive it and carry it forward. This week, and ongoing, consider how to:

Build a compelling faith. What is built into your life that would cause the next generation to inquire about God? Observe your ongoing habits and rhythms in your life. Is your faith displayed to others? How so?

Be ready to hand off your faith. What opportunities do you have with those you interact with regularly to hand off your faith? How are you handing off your faith. In addition, what are you doing with the faith that is also handed to you?

If you recognize that you don’t have a faith to hand off, look to Jesus. We do this because He is the author of our faith; He’s the pioneer. It all starts with Him because for the joy set before Him, He endured the cross. Jesus endured the cross and laid His very life down for you because He loves you and wants to invite you into new life. To run your race of faith and to leave a lasting legacy. If you have never placed your faith in the person of Jesus, you can do so now by praying, “Jesus, Thank you for enduring the cross, for dying for me and for coming alive on the third day. I turn away from my sin. I believe in You. Forgive me and change me. Lead me from this day forward. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
