The morning after Mount. Carmel, Elijah is forced to flee into the wilderness, for fear of his life! After one of the most triumphant moments of his ministry, Elijah is brought to the end of himself. He sits beneath a broom true and asks God to let him die. It’s there that the angel of the Lord ministers to Elijah, giving him enough food, rest, and strength for the journey to Mount Horeb. At Horeb, Elijah encounters the presence of God – not in the wind, earthquake, or fire, but in a still small whisper.
