THE CALL TO ENJOYMENT
"The settled happiness and security which we all desire, God withholds from us by the very nature of the world; but joy, pleasure, and merriment He has scattered broadcast. We are never safe, but we have plenty of fun, and some ecstasy." – C.S. Lewis
We all long for a life that feels completely secure, settled, and free from loss. But that kind of safety is not available in this age. Instead, God fills our lives with signs of His goodness—laughter around a table, beauty in creation, deep friendships, meaningful work, and moments that awaken our souls. We may not be safe from every storm, but we are never left without joy, and every experience of true delight points us toward the greater joy for which we were made.

CONTESTED ENJOYMENT
The chief end of man is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever. Enjoyment is named in the same breath as glory — not a reward for finishing the real work, but part of it. –Westminster Shorter Catechism

Assumption is the drain of joy.
Holiness holds hands with joy.
Holiness without joy becomes rigid religion.
Joy without holiness becomes fleshly enjoyment without God.
ENJOYMENT AS WITNESS

“When the power that is in Jesus reaches into our work and play and redeem them, there will be joy where once there was mourning. to overlook this is to miss the meaning of the Incarnation.” –Richard Foster
