Psalm 139:23-24 (NLT)
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
Dangerous Prayers:
--God Search me
--Change me
--Help me know you for who you really are
--Equip and empower me by the Holy Spirit
Isaiah 6:8 (NLT)
8 Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.”
Acts 4:13-14, 29-31 (NLT)
13 The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no
special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who
had been with Jesus. 14 But since they could see the man who had been
healed standing right there among them, there was nothing the council
could say.
29 And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great
boldness in preaching your word. 30 Stretch out your hand with healing
power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of
your holy servant Jesus.”
31 After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with
the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness.
Galatians 5:25
Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every
part of our lives.
John 14: 12-17 (NLT)
12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I
have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the
Father. 13 You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. 14 Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!
15 “If you love me, obey my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.
What does the Holy Spirit do?
--At the moment of salvation, the Spirit baptizes the us into the Body of
Christ (Romans 6:3)
--He is our Helper -- He leads us into all truth
--He Holy Spirit prays for us when we don’t know what to pray (Romans
8:26–27).
--He gives us power and boldness to declare the gospel.
--He comforts us with fellowship and joy and causes us to “overflow with
hope” (Romans 15:13).
Exodus 17:5-6 (NLT)
5 The LORD said to Moses, “Walk out in front of the people. Take your staff, the one you used when you struck the water of the Nile, and call some of the elders of Israel to join you. 6 I will stand before you on the rock at Mount Sinai. Strike the rock, and water will come gushing out. Then the people will be able to drink.” So Moses struck the rock as he was told, and water gushed out as the elders looked on.
Numbers 20:8-11 (NLT)
8 “You and Aaron must take the staff and assemble the entire community. As the people watch, speak to the rock over there, and it will pour out its
water. You will provide enough water from the rock to satisfy the whole
community and their livestock.”
9 So Moses did as he was told. He took the staff from the place where it was kept before the LORD. 10 Then he and Aaron summoned the people to come and gather at the rock. “Listen, you rebels!” he shouted. “Must we bring you water from this rock?” 11 Then Moses raised his hand and struck the rock twice with the staff, and water gushed out. So the entire community and their livestock drank their fill.
Acts 28:1-6 (NLT)
Once we were safe on shore, we learned that we were on the island of
Malta. 2 The people of the island were very kind to us. It was cold and rainy, so they built a fire on the shore to welcome us.
3 As Paul gathered an armful of sticks and was laying them on the fire, a
poisonous snake, driven out by the heat, bit him on the hand. 4 The people of the island saw it hanging from his hand and said to each other, “A
murderer, no doubt! Though he escaped the sea, justice will not permit him
to live.” 5 But Paul shook off the snake into the fire and was unharmed. 6 The people waited for him to swell up or suddenly drop dead. But when they had waited a long time and saw that he wasn’t harmed, they changed their minds and decided he was a god.
God send me!
Not like a teenager, bored with their driver’s license: “I guess if I have to.” But with boldness, confidence, and joy. “Here I am, send me.”
Romans 15:13 (NLT)
13 I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and
peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope
through the power of the Holy Spirit.
