Colabors in Christ

Colabors in Christ

Everybody is looking for a place to belong. A place where they can be known, loved, and discover that their life matters. Over the next four weeks, we're pulling back the curtain on the story of Real Life Church—not because our story is special, but because it points to the God who writes incredible stories through ordinary people. Whether you've been here for years or you're walking through our doors for the very first time, this series is an invitation. An invitation to see where we've come from, what God has done, and how He might be weaving your story into something bigger than you ever imagined. Because this isn't just our story. It's not just your story. It's God's story.

NEW TO REAL LIFE?

Thanks for stopping by our YouVersion! If you're searching for a church home, we're the place for you. We would love for you to plan your visit with us in person. Whether you've never been to church before or grew up attending church weekly, we hope you will join us this weekend!

Message Description:
What if the very thing you've been trying to hide is the very thing God wants to use?

This Sunday, you'll hear one man's incredible story of addiction, broken relationships, depression, a suicide attempt, eight strokes, and the long journey toward healing. But this isn't ultimately a story about pain—it's a story about redemption, purpose, and discovering that no one was meant to fight alone.

You'll learn practical ways to overcome isolation, find freedom from shame, discover your God-given purpose, and understand how your hurts, habits, and past experiences may become the very tools God uses to help others find hope.

Whether you've struggled with addiction, anxiety, loneliness, regret, or simply wondered if your story still matters, this message will remind you that God wastes nothing—and that He may be preparing you to become part of someone else's rescue story.
Come discover what happens when ordinary people stop hiding, start healing, and join together to become a lighthouse in a hurting community.

Key words: Church, Unity, Community, Mission, Together
This is the story of one of us: Jeremy (Bucky) Beckham
Everyone in has a story and it’s all for God's glory to go and make disciples of all nations!
Don’t give up friends, become more active in the church.
Talk it Over

1. Everyone Has a Story
Bucky said, "Everyone in this room has a story. I don't care how big you think it is or how small you think it is. All of it is for His glory."
- What are two or three moments—good or bad—that have most shaped the person you are today?
- When have you seen God redeem or repurpose something difficult in your life?

2. From Isolation to Family
Read: Proverbs 3:5-6
One of Bucky's deepest fears was being alone. Yet healing began when he allowed others into his journey.
- Do you tend to isolate when you're struggling, or invite people in?
- What keeps people from moving from the crowd into community?

3. What Are You Really Pursuing?
Read: Psalm 51:12-13
Bucky shared that his aim shifted from dopamine to God.
- What are some things people pursue to numb pain, escape reality, or feel significant?
- Have you ever realized something good had become too important in your life?
- What does it practically look like to seek God more than comfort, approval, success, or control?

4. God Doesn't Waste Pain
Read: 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Bucky said that his hurts, habits, and hang-ups became some of the greatest tools God used in ministry.
- Is there a wound, struggle, or season of suffering that God may want to use to encourage someone else?
- What would it look like to move from asking, "Why did this happen?" to asking, "How might God use this?"

5. Peace Isn't the Absence of Problems
Read: John 14:27
Bucky described biblical peace (eiréné) as wholeness rather than a trouble-free life.
- When you hear the word peace, what comes to mind?
- What area of your life feels fragmented, incomplete, or exhausting right now?
- What would wholeness in Christ look like in that area?

6. Stepping Into Your Calling
Bucky discovered that speaking about sobriety and freedom in Christ was the missing piece of the puzzle.
- What are you passionate about helping people overcome or understand?
- If fear, time, money, and insecurity were removed, what would you love to do for God's Kingdom?
- What gifts or experiences has God uniquely given you that others may need?

7. You Were Never Meant to Do This Alone
Read: Romans 10:14 and Proverbs 11:25
Bucky realized he couldn't fulfill his calling alone and began partnering with others.
- Who has encouraged or equipped you in your walk with Jesus?
- Who might God be asking you to partner with in ministry?
How could our group become a place where people discover and step into their calling together?

Pray for one another—that God would redeem every hurt, overcome every fear, and give each person courage to use their story, gifts, and experiences for His glory and the good of others.
