INTRODUCTION:
- Current estimates are there are between 2.3 and 2.6 billion christians on the planet.
- In December between 2.3 and 2.6 billion people celebrated the birth of the Christ
- In April between 2.3 and 2.6 billion christians celebrated the death, burial, and resurrection of the Christ
- Today a majority of Christians will not celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit.
However, here at Linked UP North, we must understand what Jesus said about the Holy Spirit, who He is, and why we should have Him.

However, here at Linked UP North, we must understand what Jesus said about the Holy Spirit, who He is, and why we should have Him.
(1) JESUS PROMISED THE HOLY SPIRIT (John 14:15-17 NKJV, Luke 24:49 NKJV, Acts 1:4-5 NKJV)
- Notice Jesus called the Holy Spirit "the Promise of the Father"
- Before ascending to heaven, He comforted His disciples with these words and gave them instructions for their next step.

(2) JESUS DESCIBED THE HOLY SPIRIT (John 14:26 NKJV, John 16:13-14 NKJV, John 15:26 NKJV)
- In 3 different instances Jesus described the Holy Spirit. We see through Jesus' teachings He clearly wanted His disciples to not only know, but have the Holy Spirit.
Example 1: But the ______________, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father ..
Example 2: However, when He, the ______ of ______, has come, He will guide you into all truth.

(3) He is our source of Divine Power (Acts 1:8 NKJV, Zechariah 4:6 NKJV, Ephesians 3:16 NKJV, Romans 8:11 NKJV)
Acts 1:8 is perhaps the most foundational verse on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit in the New Testament. Jesus said, “You shall receive power (Greek: dunamis) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.”
The Greek word dunamis is the root word from which we get dynamite and dynamic. It speaks of explosive, miraculous, supernatural enabling power. This is not the power of human determination or personal discipline.

(4) WE NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT (Ephesians 5:18 NKJV, 1 Corinthians 14:2,4 NKJV, Jude 1:20 NKJV)
Eph 5:18 indicates a constant refilling and refreshing
