Letters to the Church | The Gospel — God’s Invitation to Unity
This week, Pastor Nathan Wakefield continues our Letters to the Church series. In Romans 15:1-13, we learn that the Gospel is an invitation to be united through Christ, empowering us to live for one another and to engage in worship that glorifies God together. Video of the worship service is available beginning Sunday at 9:30 AM at https://southviewbaptist.org/live.

1. Their Good — The Gospel reorients us from self to others (15:1-4).
• Otherishness means we work for the good of our neighbors (1-2).
• Christ is our model (3).
• Scripture is intended to teach us that we can afford to live like this (4).
Action Step: Evaluate your decisions — do you live for your good or their good?

2. Empowered Unity — The strength to have that unity comes from God (15:5-8).
• Selflessness comes from God, not self (5).
• Selflessness becomes unity and unity becomes worship (6).
• WWJD is not just about sinful behaviors but selfless behaviors (7-8).
Action Step: Give new meaning to WWJD by considering selfless unity through diversity.

3. Real Worship — The Gospel creates a common unity that itself brings about real worship (15:9-13).
• Unity creates worship across boundaries (9a).
• But broad participation in worship has always been God's plan (9b-12).
• Hence we can have hope (13).
Action Step: Anchor your hope in God by pursuing real unity — not surface-level peace, but Christ-centered togetherness.
