Have you ever had a season where you felt like something was owed to you or promised to you—but it didn’t happen on your timeline? What did that bring out in you?

In David’s story, he was anointed king but had to wait 20+ years to actually step into it. What do you think God might be doing in someone during a long gap between calling and reality?

David chose to trust God’s timing instead of forcing what was already promised to him—even when he had the perfect opportunity. What makes trusting God’s timing so difficult in real, everyday situations like work or relationships?

Jesus modeled not clinging to what He was entitled to. Where is it hardest for you to “not cling” to what you feel like you deserve?

Closing Prayer
God, help us trust You in the process and not rush what You are forming in us. When we feel pressure to force things, give us clarity to pause and obedience to wait. Shape our hearts like David’s—teachable in tension, and willing to honor You even when we have opportunity to take control. And ultimately, give us the same attitude as Jesus, who trusted the Father’s timing without grasping for what He could have taken. Amen.
