God’s Spirit will not lead you where His Word prohibits you to go.
We need to know the Word. God can’t speak to us
3. Godly Counsel/Trusted Voices
4. Inner Witness/Conscience
God speaks through life events.
TWO KEYS:
1. God can, and does, speak through the circumstances of our lives.
1. God can, and does, speak through the circumstances of our lives.
2. Not everything that happens is God speaking to us.
We all wonder, "Why is this happening? I didn’t see this coming!"
Acts 16
What happens?
What does this passage mean?
How Do We Hear God Speak Through Life Events?
1. We filter it through the other ways God speaks.
Confirmation bias - the natural, unconscious tendency to search for, interpret, and recall information that aligns with your preexisting beliefs, while ignoring or dismissing contradictory evidence. Essentially, it is "cherry-picking" facts to fit what you already want to be true.
God Speaks Through:

…and THEN Life Events

Common Christian phrase: “God opened a door.”
Blessings aren’t always a sign it’s from God. Challenges aren’t always a sign it’s not God!
2. We’re confident He will speak to us.
If you want to hear from God, you have to have the right heart posture.
Wrong posture:
God, this happened because you’re blessing me!
God, why won’t you answer me?
God, why did you leave me alone?
Right Posture: God, what are you trying to teach me?
3. We evaluate it and grow over TIME.
God always has a greater plan for us than we can imagine for ourselves.
