About 1 in 3 U.S. adults say they feel lonely (CDC, 2024).

Younger adults ages 18–34 tend to report higher levels of loneliness than older adults, with one study finding that 43% of people in this age group reported feeling lonely (CDC, 2024).
Loneliness is one of the hardest things to admit out loud.

So we downplay the ache.
Hebrew word for Good / Whole / Flourishing — טוֹב (ṭôb)
As human beings, we play a part in one another’s wholeness and flourishing.
God names the ache first.
Presence does not equal companionship.
Being received means more than sharing space. It means someone notices you. Responds to you. Makes room for your presence.
The Hebrew word ʿēzer is most often used to describe God Himself.

It means strength. Support. One who comes alongside.
Eve is not given to complete Adam, but to reflect his humanity back to him and to remind him that he is not carrying life by himself.
We are whole in God, and we flourish in wholeness together.
If companionship is how God wired us to flourish, then it also makes sense that this is where we are most vulnerable.
The cross is not just an act of sacrifice. It is an act of communion.
If we were created for companionship and wounded in relationship, then healing doesn’t begin with trying harder to connect.
It begins with learning where it is safe to be received again.

1. Let Jesus receive you.
2. Name the ache honestly.
What remains unnamed often remains unhealed.

3. Pay attention to where you feel seen, and guard your heart without closing it.
4. Identify one relationship where it feels safe to show up honestly.
Next Steps:

This week, don’t rush past what surfaced. Stay near to God.
