God’s love.
Ephesians 3:18–19, New Living Translation (emphasis added)
“And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God”

· You belong to God.
1 John 3:1, NLT
“See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!”

· God believes in you.
· God is for you.

“...made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”
God’s grace.
Hebrews 4:16, NLT
“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most”

1 Samuel 17:25, NLT
“Have you seen the giant?” the men asked. “He comes out each day to defy Israel. The king has offered a huge reward to anyone who kills him. He will give that man one of his daughters for a wife, and the man’s entire family will be exempted from paying taxes!”

1. God uses ORDINARY people to do extraordinary things.
1 Samuel 17:4–7, NLT
“Then Goliath, a Philistine champion from Gath… he was over nine feet tall! He wore a bronze helmet, and his bronze coat of mail weighed 125 pounds. He also wore bronze leg armor, and he carried a bronze javelin on his shoulder. The shaft of his spear was as heavy and thick as a weaver’s beam, tipped with an iron spearhead that weighed 15 pounds. His armor bearer walked ahead of him carrying a shield.”

1 Samuel 17:32–33, NLT
“Don’t worry about this Philistine,” David told Saul. “I’ll go fight him!” “Don’t be ridiculous!” Saul replied. “There’s no way you can fight this Philistine and possibly win! You’re only a boy, and he’s been a man of war since his youth.”

GOD wants to use you.
You'll have to be okay with hearing, "Don't be RIDICULOUS."
2. It takes more than faith in the MOMENT to do big things.
1 Samuel 17:34–35, NLT
“But David persisted. “I have been taking care of my father’s sheep and goats,” he said. “When a lion or a bear comes to steal a lamb from the flock, I go after it with a club and rescue the lamb from its mouth. If the animal turns on me, I catch it by the jaw and club it to death.”

3. God uses people who are willing to be THEMSELVES.
1 Samuel 17:37-38
“Saul finally consented. “All right, go ahead,” he said. “And may the
Lord be with you!” Then Saul gave David his own armor—a bronze helmet and a coat of mail.

1 Samuel 17:39, NLT
David put it on, strapped the sword over it, and took a step or two to see what it was like, for he had never worn such things before. “I can’t go in these,” he protested to Saul. “I’m not used to them.” So David took them off again”

If you want to do great things for God, you will have to get very good at trusting God to be yourself.
THE CHAMPION’S MINDSET CHALLENGE
1. Would you make Jesus the Lord of your life today?
Romans 10:9–11, NLT
“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced”

2. Would you surrender your body to God today?
Romans 6: 13, NLT
“Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.”
