Anxiety is felt by everyone & sometimes it feels like we have no control over it....
WE CAN FIND PEACE WHEN WE LAY OUR WORRIES BEFORE GOD
Paul wrote "don't worry about anything" while sitting in a prison cell!
Philippians 4:6-7 reveals 3 BIG Truths
#1 God Invites us to trade FEAR for PRAYER
The Similarities between Worry & Prayer
Both involve focusing on something over and over again in your mind

The Difference Between Worry & Prayer
Worry spirals inward; you keep it
Prayer spirals upward; you surrender it

God cares about EVERYTHING so Pray about EVERYTHING, big or small!
Tell God what you need & what you're thankful for!
#2 Anxiety is REAL, but NOT FINAL
Biblical stories that point back to God's presence & help in the face of Anxiety:
1. David, who wrote Psalm 55, also wrote Psalm 56.
2. Elijah, who felt anxiety in the wilderness, was met by God with rest and renewal.
3. Jesus, who sweat blood in the Garden of Gethsemane, surrendered his fear to the Father and walked in peace towards the cross

#3 Peace isn't the absence of problems. It's God's presence in them
The disciples peace didn't come from their circumstances changing. Their peace came from realizing Jesus was with them!
4 ways we can find peace by laying our worries before God
1. Turn your worry list into a prayer list
Make a list of all the things that worry you, and then take each one and turn it into a prayer
Tips:
-Don't know what to say? Simply say "God, I need you."
-Write down your prayer
-Say your prayer out loud
-Take the filter off of your prayer
-Practice Breath prayers
Inhale and pray: "Oh God you hear..."
Exhale and pray: "...my every worry and every fear."

2. Share your struggles with a trusted friend/mentor (Galatians 6:2)
Anxiety thrives in isolation, but weakens when shared in community. So find a parent, mentor, small group leader, or close friend who follows Jesus and say something like this "I've been feeling anxious about _____. Could you pray for me and check in with me this week?"

3. Practice being thankful every day
Each day, take a moment to thank God for specific things. Thank Him for something small, like the breath in your lungs or for one of your meals. Thank Him for something big, like the way He's carried you through a hard season. Gratitude anchors you in God's goodness and creates space for His peace to settle in.

4. Commit God's Truth to Memory
God's word isn't just information, it's the truth that reshapes how we think. Take Philippians 4:6-7 and commit it to memory
Tips:
-Say it out loud each morning
-Put it on a notecard and carry it with you
-Put it where you see it often- on a mirror, in your locker, on your phone screen
-Repeat it over and over again (out loud) until it becomes second nature
-Practice saying it without looking
