The Coming Judgment of Our Works

One big Biblical truth is the idea that all men will 1 day stand and give an account before their God

"Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die.”
Ezekiel 18:4

Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; Though they join forces, none will go unpunished.
Proverbs 16:5

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap
Galatians 6:7

And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
Hebrews 4:13

All unbelievers face God’s judgment today as they walk in disobedience

All unbelievers will be judged at the final judgment based on their works for degree of punishment

And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
Revelation 20:15

And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.
Revelation 20:12

All believers face God’s wrath (discipline) when we walk in disobedience

For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness.
Hebrews 12:10

All believers will be judged at the final judgment based on their works – for reward or loss of reward

But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you regard your brother with contempt? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God…So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.
Romans 14:10, 12

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
2 Corinthians 5:10

The Coming Judgment Will Be Without Favoritism

There is no advantage to the Jew or to the Gentile

Notice the adjectives – “All” will be judged

There will be no partiality on the day of judgment

The Coming Judgment Will Be Completely Fair and Just

God in His wisdom and discernment will take everything into account in His judgment

Ultimately, God wants us to obey the truth we have from Him, not just have knowledge of the truth

The judgment extends not just to our actions but to our thoughts and words

“But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."
Matthew 12:36-37

For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light.
Luke 8:17

The final judgment belongs to Jesus, the righteous judge

For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son
John 5:22

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ
Romans 5:1

For those of us who have been justified by faith, the way we live today matters

And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.
