According to Romans 11 God is not done with His people, the Jews
God's plan for the Jews
· Temporary rejection: Romans 11:11
Israel's rejection of Jesus is not final; it is a temporary stumbling that creates an opportunity for the Gentiles.
· Salvation for the Gentiles: Romans 11:12
The rejection of Israel has been a blessing for the Gentiles, making the message of salvation available to them.
· Provoking jealousy: Romans 11:13-15
Because of the salvation extended to the Gentiles, many Jewish people will become jealous and ultimately turn to God, leading to their acceptance of the Messiah.
God's plan for the Gentiles
· Inclusion in the Olive Tree
Gentiles who believe in Jesus are "grafted in" to God's covenant people, sharing in its blessings with the Jewish believers. Romans 11:16-17
· A call to humility: Romans 11:18-24
Paul warns the Gentiles not to be arrogant about their inclusion. Their salvation is a result of grace, and they should not boast over those who fell away.
God’s Final Plan for the Jews
· Full salvation for Israel: Romans 11:25-32
Paul concludes that this will culminate in the salvation of "all Israel," meaning the entire nation will eventually be brought to faith in Christ.
