Prophets and Promises - The Promise of Love
In 2 Corinthians 1:20, Paul writes, “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ.” This season invites us to listen to the voices of the prophets—Isaiah, Micah, Zephaniah, and others who point to the divine promises of Jesus. During Advent we celebrate God’s next “yes” – his fulfilled promises in each of our lives.

Introduction: The prophets promised that love would compel God come near —Immanuel, God with us. In Jesus, that promise is fulfilled, revealing a love that is not earned and is more than a feeling. Revealing a sacrificial, steadfast, and personal love. Advent invites us to receive this gift and allow this love to shape how we live as we prepare for Christ’s coming.
Love is not what we feel first—it is what God does first.
The prophets did not promise love as an emotion or idea, but as a presence.
This is why Advent matters:
"God did not wait for us to love Him. He came because He already loved us.”
"God did not wait for us to love Him. He came because He already loved us.”
The world says, “I love you if…” God says, “I love you, period.”
God did not wait for us to love Him. He came because He already did.
