You have a choice. Choose joy.

(Philippians 1:3-6 NLT) Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. Whenever I pray, I make my requests for all of you with , for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now. And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

• Experiencing joy is different from experiencing happiness.

Happiness is external. - Joy is internal.

Joy is internal and not determined by circumstances.

(2 Corinthians 4:16-17 NLT) That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won't last very long. ...
(2 Corinthians 4:17-18 NLT) For our present troubles are small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don't look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

• Happiness is based on circumstance.

• Joy is based on Christ.
(Philippians 4:11 NIV) ... for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.

• Happiness is based on chance.

• Joy is based on choice.

• Focus on what really matters.

(Philippians 1:18 NIV) But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached,
(Philippians 1:12 NIV) Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel.

• Stop asking why.

• Start asking what.
(Romans 8:28 NLT) And that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose.

(Philippians 1:13-14 NIV) As a result (prison guards)... because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.
