Focus Verse - Mark 16:15. Choose three people in your group to read this focus verse in their best foreign accent. For the rest of the group - try to guess the accent!

Have someone read the following statement as found on the MC3 website: "The vision for mc3Missions is to focus our efforts, time, and resources to make an intentional and sustainable difference in one specific area outside of the U.S., rather than spread ourselves thin in multiple locations with differing ministry goals."

To Focus Our Efforts, Time and Resources

1. Do you agree with MC3 budgeting our resources to a non-local area? If not, how do you reconcile your opinion with what Jesus commands?

2. Why does the impact seem to be greater when we devote our resources to areas outside of the United States?

To Make an Intentional and Sustainable Difference

Read the following statistics that were true when Trigo y Miel was started in 2006:

• Over 75% of the population in Oaxaca lives in extreme poverty without electricity

• 22 out of 1000 children die before they turn 1 year old, and the infant mortality rate is 3 times the national average

• The average child doesn't finished 7th grade and less than 14% finish 8th grade.


3. Why are these stats important in relation to our efforts to tell the world about Jesus?

To Make an Intentional and Sustainable Difference

MC3 has partnered with Trigo y Miel for 13 years. Read the following statement, as found on the current Forward Edge website.

"At Trigo y Miel, 120 children receive a healthy meal six days a week, along with safe drinking water, education and tutoring, medical check-ups, weekly church services, and discipleship groups. The program also offers a savings bank and operates a private Christian school (K-12) to further equip children with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive. Together, we’re helping raise children who are healthy, learning, loved, and growing in faith, children who will impact their families and community for generations to come."


4. What would you expect the long-term benefits to be for this community, based on the changes that have already occurred through Trigo y Miel?

5. What are the benefits of choosing to focus our missions in one specific area of the world, rather than multiple?

Read Acts 1:8. In each "location" (within our church body, in our local community, and in Oaxaca), MC3 is focused on building relationships.

Prayer 4U
Write your name on a piece of paper, then list one prayer request that you have for the upcoming week. Place them in a hat, and have each group member select a paper (not their own!) Spend the week praying for that request.

Guided Prayer (leader, include the following in your prayer time)

"God - help us to recognize the importance of caring for the world. Thank you for Trigo y Miel and Victor and Lety, and for the transformation that is happening in Oaxaca. Thank you for the relationships that we have built with them, and the ways that we have seen you move in that community. May we continue to be obedient to you as we help meet the needs for Trigo. Amen."
