The world has its own measuring stick for success, salary, status, possessions, and power. But what does God say about what makes a man? In a culture that tells us to aim low, stay comfortable, and avoid responsibility, we need to recalibrate our definition of true manhood and success from God's perspective.
Join us for our next GRIT Gathering as we dive into what it really means to be a man of God. We'll challenge cultural definitions of success and discover how to align our priorities, goals, and daily lives with Kingdom values. This isn't about adding more to your plate, it's about making sure you're measuring what actually matters.
š Date: October 25, 2025
š Time: 11:00 AM ā 1:00 PM
š Location: BCF Worship Center, 2414 Central Blvd.
Bring your appetite and your questions. We'll share a meal, dig into God's Word, and walk away with practical steps to live as men who are measured not by the world's standards, but by God's calling on our lives. Don't just show up to life, show up with purpose. Let's grow in faith together and discover what it truly means to be men of GRIT.

Part 3

A boundary defines where I end and you begin.
āBear one anotherās burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.ā
Galatians 6:2, English Standard Version
Galatians 6:2, English Standard Version
āFor each will have to bear his own load.ā
Galatians 6:5, ESV
Galatians 6:5, ESV
āThe Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it.ā
Genesis 2:15, New Living Translation
Genesis 2:15, New Living Translation
āThen the Lord God said, āIt is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.ā
Genesis 2:18, NLT
Genesis 2:18, NLT
āBut the Lord God warned him, āYou may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the gardenāexcept the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.āā
Genesis 2:16ā17, NLT
Genesis 2:16ā17, NLT
āHave you eaten from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat?ā
The man replied, āIt was the woman you gave me who gave me the fruit, and I ate it.ā
Genesis 3:11ā12, NLT
The man replied, āIt was the woman you gave me who gave me the fruit, and I ate it.ā
Genesis 3:11ā12, NLT
TRUTH: Regardless of what others do, we are still responsible for our own choices.
āSince you listened to your wife and ate from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat, the ground is cursed because of you. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it.ā
Genesis 3:17, NLT
Genesis 3:17, NLT
Problems with boundaries at work.
1. Difficult Co-workers
- The one who tries to get you to do their job for them.
- The one who tries to get you to do their job for them.
- The one who is always negative.
TRUTH: You canāt change another person. You only have the power to change yourself.
āFor God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.ā
Philippians 2:13, NLT
Philippians 2:13, NLT
Serenity prayer:
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
2. Conflicts with Authority
- Transference of feelings.
- Transference of feelings.
3. Taking Work-Related Stress Home.
The next day, Moses took his seat to hear the peopleās disputes against each other. They waited before him from morning till evening. When Mosesā father-in-law saw all that Moses was doing for the people, he asked,
āWhat are you really accomplishing here? Why are you trying to do all this alone while everyone stands around you from morning till evening?ā
Exodus 18:13-14, NLT
āWhat are you really accomplishing here? Why are you trying to do all this alone while everyone stands around you from morning till evening?ā
Exodus 18:13-14, NLT
Moses replied, āBecause the people come to me to get a ruling from God. When a dispute arises, they come to me, and I am the one who settles the case between the quarreling parties. I inform the people of Godās decrees and give them his instructions.ā
āThis is not good!ā Mosesā father-in-law exclaimed. āYouāre going to wear yourself outāand the people, too. This job is too heavy a burden for you to handle all by yourself.
Exodus 15-18, NLT
āThis is not good!ā Mosesā father-in-law exclaimed. āYouāre going to wear yourself outāand the people, too. This job is too heavy a burden for you to handle all by yourself.

4. Wrong priorities.
⢠Here are my tasks.
⢠Here are my hours.
⢠I donāt have enough hours in the workday to complete all my tasks.
⢠Which tasks are the highest priority?
⢠Here are my hours.
⢠I donāt have enough hours in the workday to complete all my tasks.
⢠Which tasks are the highest priority?
Now listen to me, and let me give you a word of advice, and may God be with you. You should continue to be the peopleās representative before God, bringing their disputes to him. Teach them Godās decrees, and give them his instructions. Show them how to conduct their lives.
Exodus 19-20, NLT
Exodus 19-20, NLT
But select from all the people some capable, honest men who fear God and hate bribes. Appoint them as leaders over groups of one thousand, one hundred, fifty, and ten. They should always be available to solve the peopleās common disputes, but have them bring the major cases to you. Let the leaders decide the smaller matters themselves. They will help you carry the load, making the task easier for you.
Exodus 21-22, NLT
Exodus 21-22, NLT
If you follow this advice, and if God commands you to do so, then you will be able to endure the pressures, and all these people will go home in peace.ā
Exodus 23, NLT
Exodus 23, NLT
5. Disliking Your Job
āTake delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heartās desires. Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you.ā
Psalm 37:4ā5, NLT
Psalm 37:4ā5, NLT
TRUTH: Your job is not your identity.
Your identity is in Christ.
Your identity is in Christ.
āWork willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.ā
Colossians 3:23ā24, NLT
Colossians 3:23ā24, NLT
