Step #5

The importance of knowing...

We will hide from others what we think will cause them to reject us.

We can only be fully loved if we are fully known.

Step #5
We admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

The fruit of this step is connection, relief, and healing.

How do we do step #5?

1. Prayer – Ask God to give you courage to take this step and the gift of a friend to do it with.

2.Choose the right person.

3. The goal is to free yourself from secrets.

Remember, where the practice of confession is superficial, the experience of grace will be superficial.

When should I do Step #5?

Almighty God, my inventory has shown me who I am. I admit my wrongs, yet I ask for your help in admitting my wrongs to another person and to you. Assure me and be with me in this step, for without this step I cannot progress in my recovery. With your help, I can do this. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
