We know that as long as we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Lord.
For we live by believing and not by seeing.
Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord.
2 Corinthians 5:6–8, New Living Translation

When we understand and believe heaven is a real place…
· (2 Corinthians 4:18) Yes… we may struggle with bouts of discouragement, but thoughts of heaven keep us from being consumed by anxious thoughts.
· (1 Corinthians 15:42-44) Yes… we may experience physical pain in these weak bodies, but we can rest in the fact that a new body await us in heaven.
· (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14) Yes… we will have to walk through the heartbreaking deaths of loved ones, but we know we will see them again in heaven!

A real understanding of heaven gives us a reason to live boldly!
Heaven is a real physical place filled with real living beings.
“Let not your hearts be troubled.Believe in God; believe also in me.2 In my Father’s house are many rooms… 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
John 14:1–3, English Standard Version
John 14:1–3, English Standard Version
God invites everyone to heaven.
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

But the other criminal protested, “Don’t you fear God even when you have been sentenced to die?
We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong.”
Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”
And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
Luke 23:40–43, NLT

Luke 23:40–43, NLT
There is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!
Luke 15:7, NLT
Luke 15:7, NLT
There is only one way into heaven!
(Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus)
Jesus said, “There was a certain rich man who was splendidly clothed in purple and fine linen and who lived each day in luxury.
At his gate lay a poor man named Lazarus who was covered with sores.
As Lazarus lay there longing for scraps from the rich man’s table, the dogs would come and lick his open sores.
“Finally, the poor man died and was carried by the angels to sit beside Abraham at the heavenly banquet. The rich man also died and was buried,
and he went to the place of the dead. There, in torment, he saw Abraham in the far distance with Lazarus at his side.
“The rich man shouted, ‘Father Abraham, have some pity! Send Lazarus over here to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue. I am in anguish in these flames.’
“But Abraham said to him, ‘Son, remember that during your lifetime you had everything you wanted, and Lazarus had nothing. So now he is here being comforted, and you are in anguish.
And besides, there is a great chasm separating us. No one can cross over to you from here, and no one can cross over to us from there.’
Luke 16:19–26 (NLT)

Heaven starts here. Right now!
Our actions on earth earn dividends in heaven.
Our actions on earth earn dividends in heaven.
Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.
Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
Matthew 6:20–21 (NLT)

What do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?
