1. Jesus led them.
2. A great windstorm arose.
3. The disciples felt like they were perishing.
“Whatever battle you may be facing in your life, put it against the backdrop of our eternal God who disposes of kings, kingdoms, and empires without batting an eye.”
(Consider the Lilies, Ardavanis, 96)

4. Jesus calmed the storm.
“There is something exceedingly authoritative and majestic in this command of our Lord. Standing amid the howling tempest, on the heaving sea, and in the darkness of night, by his own power he stills the waves and bids the storm subside. None but the God of the storms and the billows could awe by a word the troubled elements, and send a universal peace and stillness among the winds and waves. He must, therefore, be divine.” Barnes notes on the Bible.

The answer to our worry is not to look inward but to look upward.” (Consider the Lilies, Ardavanis, 3)
“The sovereignty of God is indeed a hard doctrine to grapple with, but it provides the softest comfort and surest hope to the anxious and despairing.”(Consider the Lilies, Ardavanis, 118)

4. As you think of the storm and Jesus calming it, what do you imagine it was like?
5. What is another passage in God's Word that describes a storm that we can use to complement this event in the disciples' lives?
6. Where is an area in your life where your faith needs to expand?
