You and I are currently living in the last days of God’s redemption, and just like the original readers of this letter from Peter, we are waiting for the end of them - which Peter describes as being “at hand.”And what Peter is referencing here is the imminence of the end of these last days - meaning it could happen at any time.

Our response
We may naturally think we should panic, but instead we should 1) Stay calm and use good judgment through prayer.
This helps us be sober minded and self controlled. This announcement of the end of times reminds us that at any moment all of our suffering associated with living in this sin-cursed world will be over, as Christ will return and take us out of this world. Second, until His return happens, as Christ sits at his Father’s right hand, waiting for the word “GO,” He is serving as our sympathetic High Priest, who we are to cast our cares and worries upon through PRAYER, knowing that He cares for us and can give us a peace that passes all understanding.
2) Stay fervent in our love for one another. (4:7)
3) Be hospitable to one another. (4:9)
4) Sacrifice our time.
5) Keep serving one another (4:10-11).
