Fear Not: The Real Story of Revelation | "Sealed for Safety: Protected Through Peril"

The breaking of the seals in Revelation 6 reveals calamities that feel disturbingly familiar: war, economic instability, persecution, and death. But before the seventh seal breaks, John sees two remarkable visions of God's people: the 144,000 sealed from harm and the countless multitude in white robes. These images remind us that though followers of Jesus aren't spared from suffering, we are sealed by the Holy Spirit and destined for victory. Our congregation faces its hardships and uncertainties. Today, we'll discover how God's protective seal enables us to survive and thrive amid life's storms.

Fear Not: The Real Story of Revelation | "Sealed for Safety: Protected Through Peril"
Focus of today’s sermon: Revelation 6 – where “people lose their minds”
Analogy: The Cancer Diagnosis

Sin is like cancer: destructive, corrupting, often ignored until it's too late

Doctor analogy: Diagnosis doesn’t cause cancer; it exposes it

Treatment (like chemotherapy) is painful but redemptive

God’s judgment is to heal, not destroy
The Passover Parallel: Exodus as a Key to Revelation

Scripture Echoes: Exodus 12, Revelation 5:9

God sends plagues on Egypt

Final judgment: the death of the firstborn

The people of God are sealed by the blood of the lamb

The Passover lamb prefigures the Lamb of Revelation
Greek word highlight: ἀγοράζω – “ransom, purchase, redeem”
hey
Different angles, same object

144,000 and multitude = different perspectives of the same saved people
Revelation isn’t about destruction, it’s about redemption

The seals show the reality of a broken, diseased, sin-filled world – war, injustice, death

Through the Lamb, God is sealing, saving, and reconciling

Hope for: First-century Christians facing persecution

Modern Christians in a world of instability
Revelation is good news in a broken world

We are sealed in Christ

Nothing – not war, famine, death – can break the Lamb’s seal
We live in the “Already/Not Yet”

Until Christ returns, we are witnesses

The Lamb has conquered

One day, His victory will be seen in full

And we have nothing to fear
