hey
We welcome Pastor Adam Parmenter to our pulpit this morning as he fills in for Pastor Jerry while he recovers from surgery.
The Big Reveal #3: From God to Us
Revelation 1:1-3
Pastor Adam Parmenter
Guidepost #1

• Apocalypse (Revelation) means revealing or uncovering.
• God intended it to reveal not conceal.
• Uncover not hide
Guidepost #2:

• God has elected to keep some things from us
God intends for us to live in expectant trust, relying on Him.
Guidepost #3:

• The book of Revelation is a prophecy from the Triune God to Us.
• Vs 3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and
blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.
• Blessed = Spiritually prosperous
• Read, hear, keep.
Guidepost #3: From God to Us

• A prophecy is a revealing from God: Warning or Encouraging Hope
The Intent is to direct our attention to the one true living God.
Guidepost #3: A prophetic warning
Take action / Change!: Resembles modern New Testament preaching
Genesis 41 – God Prophecy to Pharoah
Note: The number seven indicates a fullness and completion.
Guidepost #3: A prophetic encouragement to hope

Daniel 2:
• Daniel and the exiles deported from the Promised land.
• David's thrown is empty. God's people defeated.

Vision represents all of the major kingdoms starting with Nebuchadnezzar in Babylon (head of gold) through to the Messiah's return.
Guidepost 3#

What do we see in Daniel? No nation regardless of glory or strength can stop God from returning His kingdom.

Daniel 2:45 A great God has made known to the king what shall be after this.

The human king, Nebuchadnezzar, missed it completely. Set up a golden statue for everyone to worship.
Guidepost #3:

The book of Revelation is a prophecy from the Triune God to Us.

"after this" is similar to Revelation 1:1 "...the things that must soon take
place."

After this has been going on for thousands of years. God expects us to live in confident expectation.
From God to Us: Holy Spirit

Revelation 1:4 John gives greetings like it's a letter.

John: Our brother.
Who is it also from: God in His fullness

The Holy Spirit:

• Seven-fold spirit (completion of fullness)
• Isaiah 11:1&2 There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse,
and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit.

And the (1) Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him,
• the (2) Spirit of wisdom and (3) understanding,
• the (4) Spirit of counsel and (5) might,
• the (6) Spirit of knowledge and the (7) fear of the Lord.
From God to Us: Jesus Christ (Revelation 1:4-7)

Faithful Witness

Firstborn of the dead: Pre-eminent/ position inheritance.

Ruler of the kings of the earth.

Coming with the clouds (Only God does that)
From God to Us: Lord God (i.e. the Father) Revelation 1:8

• Alpha and Omega

• Was and is and is to come

• Almighty
TAKE IT HOME WITH YOU: Live it this week

• This is a promise of what will take place next.

• Given to us with all the weight and authority of the Triune God with a central emphasis on Jesus Christ.

• Be warned

• Receive encouragement and hope

• MONETARY SUPPORT NEEDED...We are hoping to give away at least 1000 free hot dogs at this event. If you would like to make a donation towards the purchase of hot dogs or supplies, please leave it in the jar in the foyer or note “Hot Dogs” in the memo of your check.
• HELP NEEDED @ EVENT...It takes a lot of servants to make this event successful. Please bring a friend and sign-up to help! We will need people to set-up, cook, serve, and clean-up. Sign-up online or at the Welcome Center!

Hearing Assistance Devices Available

We have hearing assistance devices available during the morning worship service which allow the user to control the volume based on their individual needs. They are available from the Sound Booth at the rear of the sanctuary and are cleaned and sanitized after each use. For questions, see Rocky Starland.

Have You Considered?

Did you know that if your bank offers online services, you can set your tithe up as a regular ‘bill payment’ through your bank? This is a convenient option to help with continuity in giving and the ability for you to tithe even when you are on vacation or miss church. It eliminates having to wonder if you turned in your offering while you were gone! If you have questions or would like more information about how to utilize this convenient option, check with your banking institution or contact the church office.

Pop Cans = Scholarships

Don’t forget that your beverage can & bottle donations are used to fund teen scholarships for youth retreats, summer camps, special activities, etc. Please bring your recyclable items to the church anytime!
