Sermon Title: God’s Past Faithfulness, Our Present Ebenezer

Sermon Text: 1 Samuel 7:1-14

Preparation Question: How have you witnessed God’s faithfulness firsthand?

Three reminders regarding God's faithfulness and our own:
1. It's absurd to presume upon God's faithfulness but give no thought to our own. (v. 1-6)

2. Christ and His faithfulness is our only hope. (v. 7-11)

3. The past faithfulness of Christ, our Rock, is a guarantee of His present and forever faithfulness. (v. 12-14)

Response Questions
1. What is the significance of stone memorials spoken of several places in the Old Testament, and how can we practice this spiritual discipline in our own lives? How did they point to Jesus?
2. Why was it such a big deal for the Israelites to have the Ark of the Covenant back in Israel? What is the significance of it not being in Israel now?
3. What is the connection between God's faithfulness and our own?
4. How does the past faithfulness of God in Christ encourage us now and for the future?
5. What will you do this week to help yourself and others keep in mind God's continual faithfulness?
