WISDOM:

How do I recieve it?
THE FALL:
GENESIS 3:1-13

Solomon asks for discernment:
1 Kings 3:5b-12
The phrase "do not fear" appears in the Bible approximately 365 times.

Isaiah 41:10 "Fear not, for I am with you"
2 Timothy 1:7 "For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love"

One of the most frequent command in the bible is DO NOT FEAR

The phrase "fear of the Lord" or "fear God" appears roughly 300 times in the Bible, depending on the translation and how you count variations of the phrase.

fear (not)
EIMAH (terror)
PACHAD (scare)

Fear (of the Lord)
YIRAH(awe, respect and reverence)
YIRAH, or awe, relates to experiencing something that surpasses one's abilities and comprehension.”

“Moses was overcome with YIRAH when he pleaded with God to witness His glory, a sight he couldn't fully behold without risking his life. He was unable to gaze directly at God.”

“The concept of "fearing God" may initially appear to imply being scared or afraid of God, but this isn't the case. Instead, fearing God encapsulates a sense of awe, respect, and reverence toward God's majesty. It's an acknowledgment of His sovereignty over all things,”

“In other words, wisdom begins with great respect for God, not with fearing he’ll kill you. God, indeed, is a mighty warrior. But he's not a war hero because he can kill everyone in seconds. He's a war hero because he's the commander who sacrificed his life by jumping on the grenade to save those in his platoon. ”

“It is the devil’s work to promote a fear of God that makes people afraid of God such that they want to flee from God. The Spirit’s work is the exact opposite: to produce in us a wonderful fear that wins and draws us to God. It is to this happy, Scripture-commended, Spirit-breathed fear that we turn now.”

“The fear of God is not a state of mind you can guarantee with five easy steps. It is not something that can be acquired with simple self-effort. The fear of God is a matter of the heart. A Matter of the Heart How easily we can mistake the reality of the fear of God for an outward and hollow show! As Martin Luther put it: “To fear God is not merely to fall upon your knees. Even a godless man and a robber can do that.” 1 Scripture presents the fear of God as a matter of the heart’s inclinations. So, reads Psalm 112: 1, Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his commandments! The one who fears the Lord, then, is not merely one who grudgingly attempts the outward action of keeping the Lord’s commandments. The one who truly fears the Lord greatly delights in God’s commandments! In other words, fear runs deeper than behavior: it drives behavior. Sinful fear hates God and therefore acts sinfully. Right fear loves God and therefore has a sincere longing to be like him.”

“Obedience: is the proof of intimacy and validity of relationship to God.
Legalism: is used to cover up the absence of intimacy and lack of relationship to God.”-Lauren Hinshaw
