POWER is in the NAME; POWER is in the SPIRIT!

The Lord has led me to talk about something that our Society is really grappling with. It is the onslaught of distress and depression. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, major depression affects more than 8.3% of American adults and 15% of youth. More than 21 million adults and about 4 million youth will experience depression, anxiety, and feeling lonely in 2025.
Here's the Good News! There is nothing new under the sun. Jesus experienced it all! He bore depression so that others would not have to!

Point 1: Power to Conquer is Manifested through the Holy Spirit!

• In Genesis 32- Jacob was greatly distressed.
• In Judges 2 Israel was “severely distressed.”
• In the Book of Job, Job was in “dire distress”
• In 2 Corinthians Paul expressed overwhelming distress.

The connection between Holy Spirit and being more than a conqueror can be summed up in 1 word…. power!
Holy Spirit is the great power of God; He comes down from the throne. He abides in children of salvation. He executes the will of the Son, to whom all power has been given!

Access to the Holy Spirit is access to (what I call) the 7 Essentials of Power:

7 Essential of Power: He brings:
• Rest
• Wisdom
• Understanding
• Counsel
• Might
• Knowledge
• Reverence

Power is essential to get on the other side of what you’re dealing with!

Careful, Don’t Let Your Honor Become a Dishonor!

Your ministry is to honor Jesus. In honoring the Son you honor the Father. It’s the Holy Spirit that inspired and empowered men to write the Bible. Honor without humility is not honor!

What comes out of a person’s mouth will reveal true thoughts, intentions and motives.

Philippians 2:3-6 MSG
...3 Don't push your way to the front; don't sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead.
4 Don't be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.
5 Think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus thought of himself.
6 He had equal status with God but didn't think so much of himself that he had to cling to the advantages of that status no matter what...

Point 3: It’s Imperative, Let the Spiritual Rule the Physical!

The catalysts for depression that Job faced:
• Loss of loved ones
• Loss of relationship
• Prolonged sickness
• Loss of finances
• Marital difficulties
• Pride

God is not about tick for tat! But He will use the Holy Spirit to bring you back to reality!

Job is humbled by God’s questions, and he quickly comes to the realization that if God in His infinite wisdom can protect and provide for birds, how much more does he care for us?

The first step is to come to Jesus just as you are.

Conclusion:
Job had a Holy-ghost-check! That type of check:
• Compels you to look inward,
• Challenges your thinking,
• Forces you to turn your focus to God,
• Endurance will ultimately manifest a transformation in your life!

Don’t think you have to make yourself look & feel valuable to be of value. Your salvation is more important than your stagnation! Today, you can remain in denial, or you can receive deliverance!
