Red Letters: Letters to The Seven Churches
Part 6
April 13, 2025
“I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other!”
(Revelation 3:15, New Living Translation)
“But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!”
(Revelation 3:16, NLT)
“You say, ‘I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing! I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.”
(Revelation 3:17, NLT)
“What does lukewarm faith look like in MY life?”
1. ATTENDING church without being PRESENT.
“These people come near me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.”
(Isaiah 29:13, New International Version)
2. SEPARATING your faith from your DAILY LIFE.
3. Being PASSIONATE about everything except God.
“So I advise you to buy gold from me—gold that has been purified by fire. Then you will be rich.
(Revelation 3:18a, NLT)
1. Buy gold refined in the fire.
 Spiritual wealth comes through testing and trials
2. Put on white garments.
 The white garments that Jesus is offering represents His Righteousness.
“…buy white garments from me so you will not be shamed by your nakedness…”
(Revelation 3:18b, NLT)
3. Apply eye salve.
“... ointment for your eyes so you will be able to see.”
(Revelation 3:18c, NLT)
 The eye salve Jesus offers represents Spiritual Discernment – the ability to see ourselves as God sees us.
“Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent.”
(Revelation 3:19, NIV)
"Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends."
(Revelation 3:20, NLT)
Identify an area where you’ve become comfortable or complacent and choose one action to help reignite your passion for Jesus.
