Sunday 9:30 AM

“The human race, born of the family of Adam, bears all the traits of the family of Saul. Each one of us walked in disobedience to God and lived under the authority of the domain of darkness. Then there came into the family of Adam one who was of us, but utterly different.”

Malcolm Smith
The Power of the Blood Covenant
Our acceptance of the covenant means, “nothing short of a death and resurrection, actually changing families. We died to being part of the family of Adam, the old man, to be included into the royal household of the new Man [Jesus]. Such a response means incurring the wrath of the family of sin and darkness that we were once a part of. They will, in fact, treat us as they treated Jesus.”

THIS WEEK'S TAKEAWAYS

Key Theme:
God, through His Son Jesus, has made a covenant with mankind, that we can either choose to accept, delay the decision and risk missing the opportunity, or refuse. To accept the benefits of the covenant, we must surrender our right to rule ourselves and serve Jesus out of love as our king.

Key Application:
Gladly accept the terms of this covenant and its benefits (his righteousness, his armor, his sword, his riches, a place at his table) while loving and honoring him in our lives as our king.

Key Verses:
2 Samuel 9:7 “And David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan, and I will restore to you all the land of Saul your father, and you shall eat at my table always.”

Key Questions:
1. Do you see God as a loving king who has given Himself to you in covenant, or do you see Him as cruel and unreasonable, demanding more than He should?

2. Do you believe that the benefits to you of covenant with God only impact you when you enter heaven? Do you have a full grasp of God’s riches that are yours today in Christ?

3. Who do you know that needs to hear of God’s covenant offer? Who should share it with them?

Sermon Scripture for next week: Read 2 Samuel 11-12; Psalm 51

Give Online

Church family, we praise God for how faithfully in so many respects you give. Our church family is undeniably generous, but we still have great needs for supplication. We ask that you give joyfully, faithfully and sacrificially in response to how our great God and Savior has given to us.
