1. When you fast.
“Fasting is a God-appointed means for the flowing of His grace and power that we can afford to neglect no longer.” (God’s Chosen Fast, Wallis, 32)
2. Why we fast.
“Fasting from food may be difficult for some, but that is child’s play compared with fasting for the development of God’s purpose in your life. Fasting means concentration.” (Studies in the Sermon on the Mount, Chambers, 55)
“Fasting helps to express, to deepen, and to confirm the resolution that we are ready to sacrifice anything, to sacrifice ourselves to attain what we seek for the kingdom of God.” Andrew Murray (God’s Chosen Fast, Wallis, 50).
3. Who we should be during a fast.
“that God's name be hallowed or revered, that his kingdom come, that his will be done on earth the way it's done in heaven. That is the main reward God gives for our fasting.” John Piper https://www.desiringgod.org/messages/fasting-for-the-fathers-reward
