Verses. 6-7
An encouragement
Just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, live (or walk) in Him as Lord - Have you received
Christ Jesus as Lord?
Christ is Lord over every aspect of your life
Living in the pattern of Christ -
- Being rooted in Him (Foundation) Being Build up in Him (Growth)
- We have a good God who wants to lead and guide you
- Overflowing with gratitude - when you seek Him, He reveals authentic life - never thirst again (John 4 women at the well), resulting in gratitude
Be encouraged and refreshed by the Gospel daily

Verses. 8-10
A warning
- Be careful - Paul is not just saying be cautious here, they are in imminent danger
- Do not fall for anything other than Christ that claims fulfillment
- Find your fulfillment in Christ - All other things cannot hold that weight, they are not designed to sustain your fulfillment, but Christ can
- This was the heresy that was threatening the Colossians
- The root issues of all false teaching is the denial of Jesus Christ and His
sufficiency of to bring new life, and supremacy - Jesus is enough
- Our culture will strive to pull you in
- Freedom found in Christ and Christ alone
- Let God’s Word be the filter of your life - run everything through that
- How do we combat these thoughts that come our way? We remember who Christ is - and that the fullness of God dwells in Him
- You have been filled with Him

Verses. 11-15
A reminder - who you were, and who you are
Remember your story
- The circumcision of Christ
- Buried with Him
- Raised with Him in new life

- Both of these possible only by faith in the working of God
- You were dead in trespasses - not injured, dead
- He made us alive through the forgiveness of all our sins
- He has erased the certificate of debt, with its obligations
- By nailing it to the cross
- Christ has triumphed
- In Him we have victory
