What do you do after you fast + read + pray?
“The Holy Spirit had prevented them from preaching the word in the province of Asia at that time.”
(Acts 16:6, New Living Translation)
(Acts 16:6, New Living Translation)
“Again the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them to go there.”
(Acts 16:7, NLT)
(Acts 16:7, NLT)
“That night Paul had a vision: A man from Macedonia in northern Greece was standing there, pleading with him, ‘Come over to Macedonia and help us!’ So we decided to leave for Macedonia at once, having concluded that God was calling us to preach the Good News there.”
(Acts 16:9–10, NLT)
(Acts 16:9–10, NLT)
1. Trust God’s Direction.
2. Prepare for Spiritual Warfare.
“This went on day after day until Paul got so exasperated that he turned and said to the demon within her, ‘I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.’ And instantly it left her.”
(Acts 16:18, NLT)
(Acts 16:18, NLT)
“They were severely beaten, and then they were thrown into prison. The jailer was ordered to make sure they didn’t escape. So the jailer put them into the inner dungeon and clamped their feet in the stocks.”
(Acts 16:23–24, NLT)
(Acts 16:23–24, NLT)
“Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening.”
(Acts 16:25, NLT)
(Acts 16:25, NLT)
3. Praise God in the middle of your trouble.
“Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!”
(Acts 16:26, NLT)
(Acts 16:26, NLT)
“The jailer woke up to see the prison doors wide open. He assumed the prisoners had escaped, so he drew his sword to kill himself. But Paul shouted to him, ‘Stop! Don’t kill yourself! We are all here!”
(Acts 16:27–28, NLT)
(Acts 16:27–28, NLT)
“Then he brought them out and asked, ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ They replied, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.”
(Acts 16:30–31, NLT)
(Acts 16:30–31, NLT)
4. Watch God turn your situation around!
“Even at that hour of the night, the jailer cared for them and washed their wounds. Then he and everyone in his household were immediately baptized.”
(Acts 16:33, NLT)
(Acts 16:33, NLT)
“The next morning the city officials sent the police to tell the jailer, ‘Let those men go!’ So the jailer told Paul, ‘The city officials have said you and Silas are free to leave. Go in peace.’ But Paul replied, ‘They have publicly beaten us without a trial and put us in prison—and we are Roman citizens. So now they want us to leave secretly? Certainly not! Let them come themselves to release us!’ When the police reported this, the city officials were alarmed to learn that Paul and Silas were Roman citizens. So they came to the jail and apologized to them. Then they brought them out and begged them to leave the city.”
(Acts 16:35–39, NLT)
(Acts 16:35–39, NLT)
“Every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord’s death until he comes again.”
(1 Corinthians 11:26, NLT)
(1 Corinthians 11:26, NLT)
So anyone who eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord unworthily is guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. That is why you should examine yourself before eating the bread and drinking the cup. For if you eat the bread or drink the cup without honoring the body of Christ, you are eating and drinking God’s judgment upon yourself. That is why many of you are weak and sick and some have even died. But if we would examine ourselves, we would not be judged by God in this way.”
(1 Corinthians 11:27–31, NLT)
(1 Corinthians 11:27–31, NLT)
“On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and said, ‘This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
(1 Corinthians 11:23–24, NLT)
(1 Corinthians 11:23–24, NLT)
“In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood. Do this in remembrance of me as often as you drink it.”
(1 Corinthians 11:25, NLT)
(1 Corinthians 11:25, NLT)
